This Week in the Territory

I thought those Canberra-based movie going folk who stop by this little corner of cyberspace, might appreciate a look ahead to the films that are coming up this week in the Australian Capital Territory. I won’t cover the standard multiplex releases instead taking a look at the wider offerings, which often include gems that you may have missed the first time round. I will aim to post this on a Monday morning (Canberra Time) in order to be able to plan out the week.
As outlined in my Canberra Film Resources page, we are actually quite spoilt for movie choice here in the ACT and I will try and cover all the delights that we have on our doorstep. I will also have a ponder and select one film to be the pick of the week. Please do let me know if you disagree.
Therefore, this week in the Territory I give you:-
A golden week for the ANU Film Group with the following on offer:-
- The Artist (Tuesday)
- The Hunger Games (Thursday)
- Tinker, Tailor, Solider, Spy (Friday)
- The Constant Gardner (Friday)
- The Descendants (Saturday)
- Darkest Hour (Saturday)
- The 2012 Audi Festival of German Film (3-6 May)
- Latin American Film Festival (all week)
Maunka – Event/Greater Union - The Sydney Travelling Film Festival (4-6 May)
Including:-
- Toomelah
- Buck
- Martha Marcy Marlene
- The Kid with a Bike
- Weekend
- Arrietty
- Goodbye First Love
- Life in Movement
- The Skin I Live In
All I can say is wow. What a week, the real bummer is that I will be away for a large part of it, but hoping to catch as much of the Sydney Travelling Film Festival as I can, as there are a lot of films screening that I have missed.
So all that is left is to announce the pick of the week. Ladies and Gentlemen, I give you……
